Jeff
Baldori is a music legend. What is unique
about Jeff,
is the genuine nature of his musical career. The legend started
his career in Detroit
during the 60's. Jeff recorded his first single at United Sound as a
teenager. Joining with his brother in the “Woolies” the two of
them landed a national record contract with Lou Adler and Dunhill records
which became a number one national hit. Then came the 40
year involvement with Chuck Berry where Jeff recorded on
the last Chess CD which was topic of the movie, "Cadillac
records."
Jeff actually plays two instruments with proficiency, sings,
writes, and has recorded for an entire lifetime. Over the years Baldori’s
musical influences have been varied, from his classical and
jazz training, to the street life of a musician. At this point in
his career, Jeff would put Martin Sexton, Van Morrison, and Mose
Allison as his strongest musical influences. The years with Chuck
Berry are also strongly felt in his
recordings and live performances. Two other artists strongly
influenced Jeff in his earlier career, those being Magic Sam and
James Booker. It is yours to experience. Jeff is at the height of
his playing and singing ability. His focus is on small combos with
acoustic bass and light rhythm and of course the studio.
We are all accustomed to the media blitz, but it is always nice to
find a fresh and original artist who has truly paid dues.

A big phase of Jeff’s career involved the band, which he fronted,
called "Blue Money". In this band was Dan Hernandez who was
the only non African American ever to be signed
to the original Motown label. All non African American artists of that
time were relegated
to the Rare Earth label. Jeff and Dan’s nephew Ron Hernandez
who was with Dan on Motown, continue to perform as the "Valentino
Brothers." the CD “Fratelli Dei Anima”
is a Motown Sounding CD that Jeff and Ron recorded on 2006.
Currently Jeff is finishing a definitive CD called "
Detroit
City
" "my mind takes me back". In this CD
all of the soul and performing experiences are put together in a very
clear statement.
One would do well to get to a live performance to witness Jeff’s slide
guitar playing and thrilling boogie fingers on the piano.
