Jeff Baldori was born in Dearborn Michigan in 1950. His father, John Baldori is an accomplished musician who has performed for over 78 years and continues to perform at the age of 85. John started working with his family band in Pennsylvania at age 7. This was during the depression and his family band was employed successfully in his youth. John was working with the best musicians in the country and was able to get Matt Micheals (director of jazz studies at Wayne State University) as Jeff's Piano Teacher. Matt inspired Jeff to play classical and jazz music for several years. Matt commented that Jeff was playing at college level in his teen years. Matt was, and still is an extremely gifted and dedicated Jazz pianist who performs at the highest level of musicians in the country. When Matt had taken a break from teaching he got Jeff into the Detroit Institute of Musical arts where he studied for three more years. Jeff received a bachelor of arts in English at Michigan State University in 1973. As a senior Jeff researched the blues and was accredited with independent studies in this area at the University.
During this time Jeff had begun to play guitar by ear and joined the "Woolies" at the age of 15. Jeff had a fondness as all young people did for the melodies of the Beatles and became interested into Blues and Rhythm and Blues as time went on. |
